Hi There.

Thanks for visiting!

I chose to start a website of my own after reading a lot of personal blogs about finances. I've learned so much and would like to do the same someday.

Our current situation : Living paycheck to paycheck. No savings. TONS of debt. Bills GALORE. No budget. No Plan. I'm starting new.
Sure, I've tried things here and there, but nothing ever adhered - but that's probably because I never put the effort on handling finances. It wasn't fun.. but I want it to be. That's why I'm here.

Where I would like to be : On the Dave Ramsey show screaming I'M DEBT FREE!!!! YEAH! I'd like to be a Proud Dave Ramsey Follower and be able to show it all. I want to be in the "... so you can live like noone else" coz, shoot. I do wanna live like noone else. I don't want to worry about dumb bills, stupid debt, leeching interest rates and all the other unmentionables. I want to be WEALTHY. I want to die and leave my children a dynasty - not like the debtpool my mother plans on leaving me.

Who am I? I'm a young (24yo) mother and wife. We live in the East Bay but travel to the 'City' daily to make ends meet. I've got a full time job, part time business assistant for the Hubbs and a full time mother / housekeeper (slave). I'm (we're) Filipino - tainted by all the fake Filipinos out there who are living life bigger than they should - I'm sure you're going to read more later.

Who are we? I've tied the knot with Hubbs (30yo) over a year ago and we all live in a small yet happy 3 bedroom townhome. Big enough for my Daughter (6yo) to have her own room which she refuses to sleep in. Yup. We're happy.

Why broke in the bay? Well, who else isn't?!? I lie. . but from my observations. . people that I know. . 99.9% of us 'young ones' are BROKE. We didn't listen to financing stories. We didn't drool over the topic of budgeting. All we knew was If the teller says we have money - we have money. If the POS machine says it's not denied, then we can SPEND. Who needs to save on retirement when I'm this young? THEN. . Real life hit. Mortgage, Debt, Student Loans, Utilities. You should have listened. LOL.
On the serious note, living in the San Francisco Bay Area requires a BALLER status bank account with a Black Card and lots and lots of good credit. From mortgage, to food, to Bridge Tolls (damn you Bay Bridge) it all adds up. Broke in the bay is a lifestyle. LoL. You either got money, or you dont. And I sure don't. Is it possible to be Baller in the Bay? I believe so, but if I were to name my site/blog Baller in the bay - you'd probably x out after seeing how small my non funded (will soon be) Baby Emergency Fund will be. Until about 10 years of paying debt, I can then change my name. But for now - BrokeInTheBay it is.

=)

What I plan to share : I plan on sharing our Budget Plans. Our Income. Our expenses. The things I would like to buy but I can because we need to be gazelle intense (still haven't googled what this means - but I get it in context) about our debt plan. I want to post meal plans that are easy to follow and are budget friendly. My Progress. My failures. The $5 bill I found in my jeans after finally tackling the laundry - which shouldn't have been there in the first place. Our Change Fund. Everything finance related and others for sh*ts and giggles. I'm young and I want to make this fun. Watch as I change this blog from Broke in the Bay to I'm a BALLER in the bay.

Hi there! I just found your blog from the Saved Quarter challenge. Fun to read a Filipino debt blog in the Bay Area! I'm from around here, too...and broke! But lucky you to start things out at a much younger age!! Good luck!
